Gothami Girls' College
Excellence in Education Since 1928
One of the leading Buddhist Colleges in Kandy, located in the heart of Kandy Town near Kandy Lake and close to the Temple of the Tooth, producing a quality and excellent set of children to the nation.
Gothami Girls' College stands as one of the leading Buddhist educational institutions in Sri Lanka, strategically located in the cultural heart of Kandy town. Our proximity to the sacred Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) and the scenic Kandy Lake creates an inspiring environment that nurtures both academic excellence and spiritual growth.
The school was initiated in 1928 with two teachers and seven students as the result of the pioneering effort of Miss Augusta Chapman. At the beginning, the school was named Sinhala Mixed School on Gregory's Road. Later in 1978 it was converted officially to a Buddhist school and was called Gothami Balika.
The building of the school was partly destroyed by a cyclone in 1978. Then the school was brought back to the present location after the construction of a three storied building. Altogether eight principals have served so far in the college, and under their guidance, the college has achieved its targets in various aspects.
Since our establishment, we have been committed to producing a quality and excellent set of children to the nation. We socialize a generation who protect the dignity of the motherland and excel in the working world with the best human qualities, combining traditional Buddhist values with modern educational excellence.
